Tribute to Fallen Marine and LAPD Officer Joshua J. Cullins

At Valor Home Finance, we honor the memory and legacy of Joshua J. Cullins, a true hero who exemplified the values of courage, service, and sacrifice. As a United States Marine and a dedicated LAPD officer, Joshua devoted his life to protecting and serving others - at home and abroad.

Joshua’s unwavering commitment to duty led him to serve in some of the most challenging circumstances. He embodied the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment, earning the admiration and respect of his peers. As a police officer, he brought the same dedication to his community, striving to make the world a safer place.

Tragically, Joshua made the ultimate sacrifice on October 19, 2010, while serving in Afghanistan. Though his loss is deeply felt, his legacy of bravery and selflessness continues to inspire us all.

We believe in honoring heroes like Joshua by striving to support and uplift the military, first responders, and their families. Joshua's story reminds us of the importance of living a life of purpose, putting others first, and never taking our freedoms for granted.

To Joshua J. Cullins: We salute your bravery, honor your sacrifice, and pledge to keep your spirit alive in everything we do. Your courage inspires us to build a legacy of support for those who serve, ensuring that your memory lives on as a beacon of hope and inspiration.

Rest in peace, Joshua J. Cullins. Your valor will never be forgotten.

Tribute to Lorne Froats

At Valor Home Finance, we take a moment to honor the incredible life and legacy of Lorne Froats - a man who epitomized the ideals of dedication, resilience, and service. From his humble beginnings in Edmonton, Alberta, to a remarkable 100 ½ years of life well-lived, Lorne's journey is a testament to the extraordinary impact one individual can make.

Born on May 8, 1922Lorne's story began in Canada before his family moved to California in 1924. He demonstrated unwavering commitment to both education and service, joining the Marine Corps while attending college in 1942. That same year, he married the love of his life, Anne, who stood by his side for an incredible 80 years of marriage.

Lorne's military career was marked by valor and courage. From his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant to his active duty in the Pacific during World War II, and again in the Korean War, Lorne exemplified the true meaning of heroism. As part of the legendary “Frozen Chosin,” Lorne endured the harrowing Battle of the Chosin Reservoir - a defining moment of bravery that forever linked him to the honor of the Marine Corps.

After his service, Lorne built a successful career as a civil engineer, earning his degree from USC, where he proudly joined the university's first crew team. His love for USC remained strong throughout his life, reflected in his active involvement as an alumnus.

Lorne's remarkable life extended beyond his career. Together with Anne, he became a successful entrepreneur, opening three stationery stores, while also embracing a love for golf and global travel. He achieved a milestone few can claim, shooting his age on the golf course every year starting at 74. Lorne's adventures took him to 45 countries, a testament to his zest for life and the friendships he cherished.
